Three precautions for using container houses

1. Do not place your container directly on the muddy ground
Container houses should not be placed directly on bare land. Over time, moisture can erode metals. The container itself is not particularly heavy, but you need a solid foundation. Some architects choose to use cement for fixation, while others opt for the more conventional concrete slabs. Basements are not common in the design of container houses.
2. Use a crane to lift and position individual containers. Remember, the steel frame of a container can withstand heavy loads, while the metal skin cannot. Some house builders have also made preparations on the roofs of the containers to bear a very small weight of snow. You may need to design a standard truss roof on top of you, or design other methods that can distribute these loads. The frame structure of the welded container and the openings on the sides and roof panels are used as doors, Windows and skylights.
3. Do not overlook the issue of wind and rain protection for any exposed metal parts of the container house, especially if you plan to bury the container parts or cover them with soil around. You will need a type of moisture-proof layer and water repellent to keep the interior of the container structure dry and comfortable.
There are various methods to insulate and heat insulate container houses. One challenge with these steel building modules is heat transfer and cooling between the steel frame and the exterior walls. Some construction workers use spray foam insulation materials on the interior walls to seal the infiltration of cold air. Depending on your residential design and location, you may also need to apply a thin layer of insulation on the exterior. It has been proved that a thin spray ceramic coating is very useful for completing the external insulation of container houses.
